If like me you are a fan of the Art Deco style, you are sure to fall in love with this house. Completely different from the old stone farmhouses found though out this area it is full of 20s and 30s features and some of the original furnishings are included in the price.
I started my tour at the side entrance which opens straight on to the smart, fitted kitchen. Although modern, it is sympathetic to the style of the house. The kitchen goes on to the large hall with its classic original staircase and unique tiled floor. Double doors lead to the dining room with a bay window to the front of the house. More double doors lead to the lounge with a marble fireplace containing a gas fire. On the other side of the hall is a study that could be a fourth bedroom. There is a downstairs toilet, cellar with a utility room and an area fitted out as a games room. Upstairs are three large bedrooms and a bathroom with original 30’s style fittings. The master bedroom has a sunroom with arched doors to an east- facing balcony; the perfect spot for breakfast.
Outside is a large garage with workshop attached. There are two old cottages ripe for renovation, all with new roofs. A terrace leads to the swimming pool and a barn which has been converted into a bar and lounge area with WC and shower. The garden is fully enclosed and includes fruit trees and a lawn.
The hamlet is a short drive from a bakery and 7 kms from Sauzé Vaussais where there are shops, schools and supermarkets. The airports at Poitiers and Angoulême are under one hour’s drive away.
