I have never understood why this style of house is not more popular with property hunters from the UK. It offers loads of space with comfortable living accommodation on one level and accessible garage and workshop below. This one has even been updated from its construction in the seventies so its insulation and heating properties, previously a common criticism, are bang up to date.
The accommodation level is tiled though out and there is a fitted kitchen with lots of pretty units. The 27mē lounge has space for a dining table and there is a cosy wood-burning stove. There are modern, low cost electric radiators to supplement the fireplace. All the windows are newly UPVC double-glazed and give the house a light and open feel throughout. The bedrooms, whilst not large, all have double beds and some have fitted wardrobes. There is a bathroom, a separate WC and a second WC in the basement. Not only have you the garage and workshop space below, but also there is even a summer kitchen, office, storeroom and a fourth bedroom on this level.
The gardens surround the house and are well maintained with established shrubs and trees. There is also a pretty landscaped gravel area for outdoor eating and the ubiquitous garden shed.
Blanzay is a five minutes drive away and has a village school, bar/restaurant, shop and bakery. The nearest market town is Civray on the river Charente. Poitiers is under an hour away with international air and train links.
