This typical hamlet house is ideal for those of you seeking the rural dream of growing your own veg and living the good life. That’s what the present French owners have been doing here for the past 50 years of their married life, but are now going to find somewhere smaller. Yes, the house does need some investment if it’s going to enter the 21st century, but like the garden, you can work on it a bit at a time and enjoy the fruits of your labour with the change of the seasons.
However, before we go all River Cottage, the house needs some updating. There is a tiled kitchen with a corner sink and a separate lounge area next door. The WC and shower room are basic and found to the back of the kitchen. Also through here is a summer kitchen and a room ideal for a larger updated kitchen which could be open out onto the rear gardens. The two bedrooms are also on the ground floor and next to each other after passing through the lounge. There is a wood burning stove in the lounge. The attic is accessed via the large hangar and more bedrooms could be made here.
The outbuildings include a stable of more than 100 m² and some stone sheds and the large hangar. The cottage to restore is small, detached and at the end the land. The garden and land surrounding the house is made up of vegetable plots, lawn and formal area to the front.
The hamlet is 10 minutes drive from the market town of Lezay with its shops, schools and summer lido. Poitiers is under an hour’s drive away and has international travel links by train and air .
