Whilst it may have been a cold day when I visited this house the welcome from the owner and the warmth from the radiators soon made me appreciate the homely feel of this renovated farmhouse. And in summer the south facing front of this house will be a real sun trap.
There is just the right amount of exposed stonework in this house to retain its original character of the old days but with all the modern comforts expected today. The entrance hall has a large fitted kitchen on one side and a lounge area with wood stove on the other side. There is also a further living room or reception room on this floor. The ground floor is tiled though out. Between the living rooms is the white tiled bathroom with WC. The house has a new septic tank sited under the terrace area to the rear of the property. The stairs rise up from the lounge and there is a mezzanine area with a great view to down below. The rooms are all double with wood floors and off a long landing. Upstairs does not have all the original features that you find below but it is well insulated and no work to do.
The house has a boiler room with useful storage area. The attached barn and stable are all in good condition. Opposite the main house is a tiny cottage with an ancient fireplace that could make guest accommodation. Through the hangar is a lawn area with some small fruit trees and space for a veg plot. Most of the property is bordered by stone wall and gates.
The house is well located between Poitiers and Angouleme giving you a choice for airports and train stations. Civray is the nearest market town with a choice of shops and places to eat.
