I liked this little cottage from the moment I set eyes on it. It was the ideal “bolt hole size” that many buyers are looking for with a good sized garden behind and all at a great price. Cheap and cheerful so far …however, you do need a deep breath as you walk inside...
The interior needs refreshing and modernising. The present owners have had a go but frankly the end of term report is “could have done better”. The basics are all there and structurally it looks sound. Downstairs is a tiled kitchen with sink and units that have seen better days. There is an adequate size bathroom with lots of wood panelling and shower over a bath. The good news is that the village is on mains drainage so updating the plumbing will be straight forward. There is a spacious living room with exposed pointed stone wall around the wood burning stove. From here the make-do stairs rise up to a large room with wood flooring which, with some TLC, could be a comfortable double bedroom. Alternatively, you could split the room to make two small bedrooms.
The garden surrounds one side and rear of the house and contains fruit trees and lawn. There are pleasant views over fields. There are a few stone sheds that need attention. Overall, a cheap property that could be made into something very attractive, without a great deal of cost.
The village has a small bar/restaurant and is 5 minutes drive from the market town of Chef Boutonne where there are a number of shops, restaurants, schools and supermarkets. The nearest airports are Poitiers and Limoges for international flights..
