This house oozes style and quality and is one of the most attractive barn conversions I have seen in France. In fact, it does not feel like a barn conversion at all. Its unique interior décor, top of the range finish and practical layout all make it impossible to find fault with.
The newly added entrance porch or conservatory gives the home a sunny first impression. The front door then goes into a living room with beautiful combined tile and wood inlay floor. There is a fireplace with built in wood burning stove and, as is found throughout the home, double glazed windows which overlook the private courtyard. The house has a formal dining area through which you pass to arrive at the fully fitted kitchen. The kitchen gives access to part of the garden through French doors or to a covered terraced seating area via the utility area and downstairs WC. The staircase is open up to the roof beams and a large mezzanine offering a useful spacious office area. The three bedrooms have built-in wardrobes and yet
more beautiful decoration and unique wall paper. The bathroom is modern and has colourful red tiles on floor and wall, contains a bath with shower and WC.
Outside is equally appealing; all set behind high gates and enclosed with hedging. The oil fired boiler is in one of the stone out sheds, the other offers workshop space and there is an area for parking. The well maintained gardens include lawn, shrubs, veg plot and established trees in a shady corner.
The property is five minutes drive from the market town of Civray on the river Charente. Here, there is a good selection of bars, restaurants, supermarkets and small shops. For international airports the house is an hour’s drive from either Poitiers or Angouleme. © |
