This pretty cottage has been recently renovated by its friendly French owners to a high standard without losing its traditional charm inside and peaceful rural views outside.
The French doors open from a practical covered porch area into the tiled kitchen with sink, cupboard space and room for a table too. The rear of the kitchen leads to a practical storage area and downstairs WC which could be a second bathroom, if desired. The spacious living room, with original wood floor and open fireplace, is the heart of the home for me. It is easy to imagine many a cosy evening in front of the fire or eating around the large dining table placed in here. The room on the other side to the kitchen is used as a bedroom but you could easily open up the fireplace and make a dining or reception room. The stairs from the kitchen go onto a wide landing area also used as an office. The three bedrooms are all double sized, well decorated and have exposed beams, some requiring a slight duck of the head. The blue and white tiled bathroom continues to show the quality finish, offering a large bath, separate shower, WC and basins.
The land stretches away in front of the cottage to a barn with covered terraced on one side and some smaller stone sheds and workshop on the other. The land is extensive and two thirds is made up of parcels of woodland in the locale.
The hamlet is situated about ten minutes drive from the market town of Couhé which has a selection of supermarkets, restaurants and small shops. Couhé provides good access to the town of Poitiers, less than 30 minutes drive away. Here, there are international rail and air links back to the UK. © |
