Sitting on a quiet lane, I have passed this house many times and always admired the pretty exterior with its green shutters, overflowing window boxes and well-tended garden. Now it has come onto the market I have a chance to see the inside, which does not disappoint either.
The French doors allow you to enter direct into the living area or there is a formal front door and hallway. The ground floor is tiled throughout. The modern kitchen has oak units and a fitted oven and hob. There is room for a dining table and the kitchen area is also open onto the lounge with its fireplace being the focal point. Off the hall are a useful office (broadband no problem here), a spacious up to date bathroom, separate toilet and storage under the stairs. Either could be converted into en-suited shower rooms.
Attached to the property are two stone sheds. One houses the boiler and laundry area. The other is a small workshop. The gardens have two lawn areas, a large veg plot and established shrubs. There is a cittern that stores rain water. To one side of the house is a large gravelled area for parking and a pretty terrace area for relaxing with a drink and watching the world go by.
The house is 5 minutes from the river Charente and 7 kms for the popular market town of Civray. Poitiers, Angoulême and Limoges are the nearest airports for regular flights back to the UK. © |
