If you are looking for a rural idyll but also wish to join an established community this could be your answer. At first appearances, the house is hidden away in a little hamlet surrounded by woods and fields full of sheep. However the owners tell me that their neighbours have welcomed them with open arms and tears are shed when they return to the UK. The house has been completely renovated to a high standard without losing the simplicity and charm of the original cottage.
The heart of the home is the lounge with its flagstone floor and wood burning stove. The kitchen, with old fashion tiles, is off to the right and has room for a dining table. Also on the ground floor is a bedroom with en suite shower room and WC. The stairs rise up onto a huge landing with new wood flooring. Here there are a further 2 double bedrooms and a smart bathroom and second WC. Large windows let in plenty of light on both levels and there are pleasant views over the hamlet.
As well as the grassed area in front of the house there are two further plots of land. One is an overgrown potager, or veg garden, located about a minute walk away and the other is a large field with useful hangar and chicken sheds. The house benefits also from a modern garage, an old stone forge and a stone storage shed, all with electric supplied.
The town is five minutes drive from the village of Usson which has a good selection of small shops and a restaurant. The market town of Gencay is another 10 minutes away. Both Limoges and Poitiers are conveniently nearby for international air and rail links.
