This cottage represents to me an ideal holiday home in a wonderful setting, peace and tranquillity; a classic rustic cottage with nothing to do but sit in the sun, relax and enjoy a break from the daily grind – and the odd glass of wine in the suntrap courtyard.
The cottage is simple. One main room, with a kitchen corner, dining area and still room for two sofas, the TV and a wonderful fireplace. The toilet and shower room are at the foot of the stairs which lead up to two bedrooms. The master bedroom is over the living room and is of a similar size, so if you are into cat swinging then no problems (only joking!) There are lots of interesting traditional features, stone sink with its bulls eye window in the kitchen, heavy oak beams, stone fireplace, exposed stone walls and oak roof beams. The cottage has benefited from a new individual drainage system, the roof is redone, as are the electrics and plumbing. In good decorative order, there really is nothing that needs to be done.
Outside the courtyard is large and enclosed with a covered area and small shed for “bits”. There is also a further parcel of garden within a short walk of the property. An ideal allotment for those keen on gardening, or it would make a very nice orchard or a wild garden.
The village has an interesting historic church, a bar restaurant and a boulangerie yet it is a very short drive to the pretty market town of Chef Boutonne for all those day to day necessities.
