Previously a confectionery shop, I can imagine a lot of our clients going sweet on this house. Tucked into a quiet backstreet but with a large sunny courtyard and private garden you can have all the convenience of village life but with the privacy normally found in a more rural setting.
The ground floor includes a light and spacious kitchen-diner with arched patio doors. The dining area opens onto the red tiled living room with its stone fireplace. Solid wood stairs go up to three double bedrooms all with lovely original floorboards. Fortunately there is space at the end of the landing to install a bathroom as at present the WC is outside and the shower is in a cupboard off the kitchen! However mains drainage will make solving the plumbing problems relatively inexpensive.
The outside space has even more character. An attractive paved courtyard is ideal for eating outside and there is plenty of space for car parking under the large hangar. Through a small door is another outdoor area attractively grassed and planted with bamboo and a second hangar and wood store.
The village has small shops, bars and two restaurants. The market town of Civray is 10 minutes drive away. Nearest airports are Poitiers, Limoges and Angouleme – all accessible in under an hour. © |
