They say that ‘a little of what you fancy’ does you no harm. Well, this delightful village house offers a lot more. Do not be lulled into thinking that this is a ‘sweet little cottage’; the lovingly renovated property is a veritable ‘tardis’. Originally it was two houses, one with a shop front. Now it is one seriously large home and offers a huge amount of accommodation over three floors. With up to seven bedrooms one could offer bed and breakfast or simply enjoy the fantastic amount of living space on offer (over 300m²).
The farmhouse style kitchen can be directly accessed from the patio. It has plenty of space for eating and leads into the light, airy breakfast room (which could be a ground floor living room). There is also a huge dining room (formerly the shop), a utility room, and an en-suite guest bedroom. The beautiful, original staircase in the front hallway leads up to a vast living room and four double bedrooms with the original floorboards (one used as an office). There is a shower room on this level. Up again and there are two more large bedrooms and a third shower room, with exposed beams.
There are two small lawns, a patio, double garage and a barn with a roof which needs repairing.
Lezay is either a large village or a tiny market town. With a population of less than 2,000 I would say that it is a village, but with excellent amenities: bars, restaurants, large supermarket, cinema, park, fishing lake, tennis courts, summer lido and one of the largest weekly markets in France. © |
