This is a lovely village with medieval origins and a wide choice of bars, restaurants and little shops. The property is set in a quiet, narrow back lane. It is cheap but you will need your DIY skills in order to make it cheerful. There is space directly behind the house to create a patio, attics to convert and a little garden accessed up a pedestrian passageway.
The current layout consists of a tiled kitchen – in need of major modernisation – a living room with wood burner-style fireplace and two other rooms. There is space in the attics to create two further rooms, although access at the moment is solely external.
There is space behind the house for a patio and a little unattached garden round the back.
Charroux is famous for its medieval abbey, of which one turret remains. There is a covered market place and a good range of shops, bars and restaurants. Supermarket shopping is five minutes’ away at Savigné and the riverside town of Civray is close at hand, too. © |
