The first fleeting glimpses of this house from the country lane suggested that this was not going to be a run-of-the-mill property. One has the impression of an important country residence. Having completed the tour I can confirm that this initial feeling is not misleading. The house has been renovated, new central heating added and I love the walled back garden which is triangular.
A tiled entrance hall leads into a brightly coloured kitchen with plenty of space for informal eating. The lounge is even larger, with modern tiles on the floor. There is a practical downstairs WC. The original curving staircase leads up to three double bedrooms and a modern shower room (with WC). Up once again to two enormous bedrooms and a tiny study; this could become a shower room.
There is a wine cellar, garage and a huge outbuilding which was once stables. The gardens extend to nearly half an acre and the walled back garden is an attractive and unusual triangular shape.
The commune has its own bar/restaurant and library. Supermarket shopping is just five minutes away in the riverside town of L’Isle Jourdain which has a wide range of restaurants and small shops. © |
