Many house sales have a sad story: the three Ds - death, divorce or debt. Sometimes age has simply caught up with owners who can no longer cope with stairs or extensive grounds. However, here there is a happy story. The owner of this well-appointed house is selling her home (and her business in town) to move to Senegal where she is adopting a baby whose young mother needs help. The laws state that she must live there for 18 months before the adoption is formally accepted. She is leaving behind a lovely, well-built modern house with a fantastic garden and splash pool. This is a very French, new-build community next to an old hamlet, on the edge of a lively market town.
An entrance hall leads into a large open-plan living space. The fitted kitchen leads directly into the dining and living room sections, with French windows onto the sun-trap patio. Accessed from the corridor are four double bedrooms, a bathroom and separate WC. The integral garage is enormous, with space for three cars and for white goods. The back garden can also be accessed from here.
The house is surrounded by its own gardens and there is a splash pool and garden shed.
Gençay is a historic market town just fifteen minutes from the regional capital. It has a full range of amenities and a wonderful traditional market. The old town winds up cobbled streets to the château. © |
