I take my hat off to the owners of this property which is the cleanest, tidiest and best maintained house on our books. In addition, no expense has been spared: electrically-operated gates, state of the art doors and windows…Monsieur even has a modern shower cubicle off the summer kitchen so that he doesn’t bring dirt into the house after his gardening. The location is also attractive: a two minute level walk to the supermarket but with views of open fields from the windows. Lovely!
The hall leads directly into an open-plan dining room/living room which is the heart of this house and offers views of the garden. The kitchen is fully fitted with a practical tiled floor. A corridor leads off to three small double bedrooms, a WC and bathroom. Interior stairs take one down into the basement (which offers direct access to the garden). There is a large summer kitchen, a guest bedroom, wine cellar and not forgetting Monsieur’s shower. The garage has space for two cars.
There is a small front garden with those views and a large, pretty, secluded back garden with a patio.
Is Civray a village or a tiny market town? With a population of just 2,000 I am tempted to say village yet it has the wide range of commerce usually only found in towns. The riverside setting makes the centre picturesque and there is a range of shops, bars, restaurants, supermarkets, weekly open-air market, cinema, summer lido, park and a pavement café culture in the summer. © |
