I lost count of the number of rooms in this property, some more habitable than others; they just seemed to go on and on. A former bakery set round a courtyard this property has a lot of scope for those looking for a large project.
The present living accommodation is made up of a fitted kitchen that goes onto a large lounge area where the old bread oven, pictured, is found along with a pool table and a wood burning stove. The stairs from the kitchen area go up to a maze of rooms including a rather dilapidated bathroom. The second staircase is of made of stone, hinting that at some stage this may have served as a lodging house as well as a bakery. This leads to a futher maze of rooms. All have wooden floors but the plasterwork and electrics look like they need upgrading.
Around the grassy courtyard are stone barns and a hangar.
The house is a short drive to the market town of Civray which has a good selection of commerces. Poitiers and its airport and TGV rail links is 30 minutes away. © |
