I love the way this house is shaped, adding a touch of individuality. Nearly every room is of a similar size: neither huge nor pokey. There is no major renovation work to be done and, being marketed at a competitive price adds further to its curve appeal.
Entrance is through the conservatory from where one can directly access the fitted kitchen or the lounge. I started my tour in the former which has plenty of space for a table. Turning right, there is a cosy dining room and then a lounge. The room beyond is currently set out as a downstairs bedroom. The labyrinthine downstairs space is completed by a utility room, shower room, WC, boiler room and large workshop (or storage) with its own attic. Upstairs, a room on the right is set out as a study, while to the left are three double bedrooms, currently accessed through each other. This first floor has reasonably low ceilings and, arguably, needs re-thinking in terms of lay out.
The garden is to the front and side of the property. In addition to lawn areas, there is a huge vegetable plot. To the left of the conservatory is a summer room.
The nearby riverside town of Chef Boutonne has an open-air market every week and offers a choice of bars, restaurants, shops, supermarkets, public château, fishing lake and a pavement café culture. © |
