If views are top of your French house shopping list, then this property has fantastic ones over sunflower fields and the Charente valley. The house itself has a new central heating system but will need some modernising: a new kitchen and bathroom. However, the views are already perfect.
As with any house with a sous sol (ground floor basement), the main accommodation is on the first floor. Both the kitchen and bathroom are rather dated, with 1970s style tiling. The living/dining room is large, with French windows to the outside and a fireplace. There are three good sized double bedrooms (with practical built-in cupboards). An internal staircase leads down to a huge summer kitchen, second dining room, boiler room and a fourth bedroom which was formerly used as a study.
A huge outbuilding (which needs to be painted) could be used as garaging or as a workshop, or both. The gardens surround the property and extend to approximately an acre and a half. One can access a full length patio from the living room. From here one can worship the views and the sunshine.
Three minutes away is Aunac with its bar/restaurant, legendary baker and a pharmacy; it is under 15 minutes’ drive to the market town of Ruffec with its bars, restaurants, hypermarkets, cinema, swimming baths, hospital, TGV link to Paris, twice weekly market and a pavement café culture. © |
