This split-level house offers the best of both worlds: the tranquillity of leafy suburbia, (with woodland walks seconds away), yet the commerce of a bustling town on your doorstep, with views of Ruffec from the top bedroom window. I would redecorate throughout and add a modern bathroom, but apart from that there is nothing to do, so relax and decide which restaurant to try first.
The accommodation is on three levels. From the front door one has a downstairs bedroom to the left and a seventies-style bathroom to the right. A small flight of stairs takes one down to a kitchen which leads on to an open-plan dining/living area, with an attractive fireplace and French windows to the garden. There is a WC and internal access to one of the garages from here. On the top floor are three further bedrooms, although I would be tempted to turn one into a second bathroom.
The house is surrounded by its own gardens, with what was once a vegetable patch to the one side and a covered patio accessible from the kitchen and reception rooms. There are two garages.
Ruffec has a number of large supermarkets, shops, bars, restaurants, swimming baths, hospital, TGV railway station with services to Paris, open-air market and a pavement café culture. © |
