This house has a romantic story behind it. After the Great War, an artisan visited this pretty town. He fell in love with it, particularly where the bridge looks over the river. He vowed to return and build his own house by the river edge. Years later, he did precisely that, constructing a house of wood on a stone base. It is a unique property and is vast. For someone wanting a water setting, a short stroll from the commerce of a little town, this could be a very interesting proposition.
A large entrance hall leads off, to the right, to a vast living room with inset fireplace. To the left, the kitchen has a linoleum floor and fitted units, with direct access to a balcony overlooking the garden: the perfect place to take breakfast. On this level there are also two double bedrooms, a bathroom, separate WC and a study. The latter has a staircase up to three further bedrooms and a washroom. In the ground floor ‘basement’ is a summer kitchen, the final two bedrooms and a shower room. The labyrinthine accommodation is completed by a garage, workshop and vast convertible attics.
There is an attached garden accessed from the sous sol (basement), while opposite is a further piece of land, perfect for a vegetable plot.
Chef Boutonne offers a choice of bars, restaurants, shops, cinema, fishing lake, public chasteau, supermarkets, builders’ merchants, weekly open-air market and pavement café culture.
