Situated in a region of outstanding natural beauty – popular with French hill walkers – this pretty house has been renovated by the couple who own it and who run an independent building company which specializes in restoring old houses using traditional skills and materials. There is room for extending the living space and the owners had planned a fourth bedroom and roof terrace which they would create for you; not included in the price! There is no garden but with this location - surrounded by spectacular countryside and villages – it would make a fantastic retreat.
The main living space is open-plan and everything has been beautifully, painstakingly renovated. The walls have been re-pointed, the floor is part flagstone, part tomette tiles and the stone fireplace has been professionally restored. The kitchen area has a true Provencal feel to it, with a lovely stone sink, and there is plenty of room for dining. I can imagine cosy evenings spent around the open fire. Down the corridor is a tasteful shower room and separate WC, as well as a door to the boiler room and workshop. The current staircase is attractive but steep (easily changed) and on the first floor landing there are built in cupboards. The three bedrooms are doubles. There is space above the workshop and boiler room to create another bed/bathroom and that roof terrace (with great views).
The friendly hamlet is less than five minutes from two lovely villages, both with bar/restaurants and one with its own man-made beach which is popular with French holiday makers.© |
