The setting is impressive, with views of open countryside; the gardens are delightful, with a pretty duck pond and a fenced off swimming pool (for those who prefer to swim without the birds); and the house is ready to move into. It has been tastefully updated, while retaining its original character. Is there a down side? Not unless you have a phobia about keeping ducks.
A tiled entrance hall leads into a beautiful farmhouse style kitchen, attractively tiled. The huge living room has a wooden floor and an original fireplace. Downstairs is completed by two useful additions: a utility room and WC. A staircase leads up to three good size double bedrooms, a bathroom with purple suite, and a separate WC. A door at the end of the corridor leads into a storage room.
The gardens are to the front and side of the house. (Behind are fields). They look out over farmers’ fields. The swimming pool area is fenced, in accordance with safety regulations; the duck pond is not. The open barn is either garaging or a covered outside area to escape the midday sun. The setting is entirely unspoilt: rural France without any eyesores.
The nearby market town of Lezay is famous for its weekly open-air market, one of the largest of its kind in France. In addition, it offers bars, restaurants, bakers, butcher, DIY shop, banks, schools, cinema, summer lido, tennis courts and supermarket. © |
