This sleepy market town – large village – comes alive every Tuesday morning for one of France’s liveliest markets. You can capture the atmosphere from the privacy of your own balcony. The house is like a tardis, and comes with the added bonuses of a private garage, workshop and secluded, sun-trap courtyard garden on the first floor. Simply redecorate, relax and enjoy.
An entrance hall provides internal access to the garage and workshop. A flight of marble tiled stairs leads up to the open-plan kitchen/dining room with French windows out into the courtyard. A useful utility room contains a traditional, deep sink. The living room is accessed through glazed doors and is vast. It has a working fireplace and provides access to the balcony. The latter can also be reached from the master bedroom. The first floor is completed by a bathroom (pink suite) and separate WC. A wooden staircase takes one up again, to three further double bedrooms with attractive wood floors. On this level there is a washroom (sink and bidet), separate WC and a further room for storage. The décor is dated but there is nothing else which needs changing.
The courtyard is large enough for outside wining and dining and the garage/workshop area has a mezzanine. (The garage on the right of the main picture does not belong.)
In addition to its acclaimed market, Lezay offers bars, restaurants, bakers, butcher, DIY shop, banks, schools, cinema, summer lido, tennis courts and supermarket.
