As you approach this property along the country lane, you already know that the views are going to be spectacular. A wide hallway leads off to a living room with insert wood-burner. This room was huge but a downstairs bedroom has been portioned off. (It would be easy to undo this). The farmhouse kitchen has a fireplace and behind it are a scullery, wine store and bathroom with separate shower. Beyond here are boiler and utility rooms. A spectacular curving staircase leads up to two huge double bedrooms and an upstairs WC room has been created but not installed. There are two un-renovated rooms, both enormous, and attic space one could get lost in.
To the side of the house are a garage and a vegetable plot the size of a football field. On the other side of the lane is a large barn and land down to the river, protecting those views for the future.
Chatain has a friendly bar and baker. The riverside town of Civray – fifteen minutes drive away – offers bars, restaurants, shops, cinema, summer lido, camp site, open-air markets, hypermarkets and typical pavement café culture. © |
