I remember passing this country cottage three years ago when it was sadly neglected. There were kittens playing in the sunny back garden and I thought that it would make a lovely holiday retreat if someone brave would take it on. They did and it is now a well renovated, light, spacious property. The kittens have moved on, no doubt, but the cottage is ready for purrfect French holidays.
The huge, tiled kitchen has a butler sink, exposed beams and stone wall, as well as a dining area. It overlooks the back garden. The living room is also a good size, with the original fireplace. There are two further downstairs rooms, one perfect as a guest bedroom, the other perhaps a games room or formal dining room. There is a WC next door to the third bedroom. Upstairs, there are two double bedrooms and a bathroom requiring a few finishing touches.
The secluded garden is the perfect size for holidays and offers unspoilt views of fields.
The nearby market town of Lezay (five minutes drive away) hosts one of Europe’s largest markets of its kind, every Tuesday morning. It also has three bars, restaurants, shops, banks, cinema, summer lido, tennis courts and a supermarket. © |
