Is Civray a village or tiny market town? With a population of just 2,000 I would say village yet it has the wide range of commerce usually found in towns. The best of both worlds, then, and that equally applies to the property itself: a deceptively large terraced house located in a tranquil back street cul-de-sac but with the convenience of bustling commerce within a minute’s walk. Two added bonuses are a sunny private garden and a wine cellar.
The entrance hall leads into a spacious living room with wood floor, an ornate fireplace and French windows overlooking the front. A large fitted kitchen has an attractive tiled floor and leads out to the patio and garden. The original winding staircase takes one up to three double bedrooms – all with sinks and wooden floors – and a modern bathroom with WC. The second floor accommodation mirrors the first floor, again with sinks in each room. There is a handy linen cupboard up here.
The sun-trap garden offers a patio area, a raised terrasse and a small lawn. There is a two storey attached outbuilding serving as a utility room, with a sink, WC and the central heating boiler.
The riverside setting makes Civray picturesque and there is a range of shops, bars, restaurants, supermarkets, weekly open-air market, cinema, summer lido, park and a pavement café culture in the summer..© |
