I just like everything about this house; the rich warmth of the colours used throughout; the standard of the renovation, decoration and furnishing. Yes, of course, there is more that could be done and the possibility of adding your own stamp, but it has a comfortable homely feel, and interesting “corners” both inside and out.
The main entrance takes you into the dining room in the centre of the house. From here you turn right into the fully fitted and equipped kitchen which is large enough for a kitchen table. Off the kitchen are the lobby, downstairs bathroom and utility room. The living room is to the left of the dining room, and the stairs to the first floor are at the back. Amazingly this room is large enough not to be a corridor. There are beautiful stone fireplaces with wood-burning stoves in both the living and dining rooms. Upstairs is a pretty landing and three double bedrooms, one with a stunning en-suite bathroom, and the family bathroom. Throughout the house there are nice touches of exposed stone, good woodwork, fitted wardrobes, oak beams.
French Doors take you from the living room to the patio terrace which is totally secluded. There is a small barn attached to the house, a large open barn to one side housing the pool pump, a large double garage with a convertible attic, and a row of small sheds (old animal pens). The courtyard at the front of the house is a sun trap, whilst the secret garden behind the garage has a range of attractive climbing plants. The green corridor takes you to the pool area, hedged for privacy, terraced and grassed for soaking up the rays.
On the edge of a pretty hamlet it is a short drive to the market town of Sauzé Vaussais. © |
