Sitting in the kitchen, I saw at least six different types of little birds banqueting at the bird table in front of the window. France seems to have a much healthier supply of wildlife than the UK and with such a pretty garden – especially in the summer – this cottage is an ideal spot from which to take pleasure in it. For non bird watchers, the tranquillity of the garden lends itself to the enjoyment of a glass of wine or three on the patio!
The front door opens into a terracotta tiled living room with a wood burning fire. To the left is the kitchen which has some fitted units, room for a table and chairs, and a discreet central heating boiler. Also to the left of the living room is the shower room and toilet. A corridor leads to the right where two good sized double bedrooms have been partitioned from the original larger room. There is apparently space above the bedrooms which are in the taller part of the house. This could be converted although there is no current access to it. The roof over the kitchen end of the property is new and the roof over the bedroom end appears to be in good condition.
There is a patio are in front of the property and a large garden filled with flowering shrubs. On the other side of the little lane is off road parking, a garage and a small single storey barn.
The property is situated in a small hamlet that is 2.5kms from the nearest bar/restaurant. For supermarket shopping, both Civray and Champagne Mouton are about 10kms away. © |
