If you are looking for something imposing, with over a hectare of land, in a stunning location then you might just experience a ‘Coup de Coeur’ (which roughly translates as falling head over heels in love) when you walk up the drive.
There is a formal entrance hall, although I entered directly into the open-plan kitchen/living room. At the moment this enormous room triples up as kitchen/dining-room/sitting-room. However, there is adequate space behind the study and downstairs WC to create a separate living room, if desired. Upstairs, there are two enormous bedrooms on the first floor, each with two double beds. One of these has a large balcony with panoramic views. The bathroom contains a WC. Up again and there is a wide landing, a bedroom large enough to be divided into two doubles, a smaller double and a shower-room. Every bedroom enjoys wonderful views of the garden and the Charente countryside.
The terrasse is perfect both for summer dining and admiring the views. The gardens are laid to lawn; there is a stone barbecue, pond, vegetable plot and even an 18-hole ‘crazy golf’ course.
The property is situated in splendid isolation but less than ten minutes’ drive from the village of Villefagnan with its bars and small shops. Supermarkets and traditional open-air markets can be found at nearby Chef Boutonne, less than fifteen minutes away.© |
