If like me, you are a fan of Art Deco style, you are sure to fall in love with this house. I have never seen another like it. As well as all the many beautiful 20’s and 30’s features, a lot of the original furnishings are included in the price.
I started my tour at the side entrance, which opens straight on to the beautifully fitted kitchen. Although modern, it is sympathetic to the style of the house. From the kitchen we enter the large hall with its superb original staircase. Double doors lead to the dining room, with a bay window to the front of the house. More double doors lead to the sitting room, which has a marble fireplace with a coal effect gas fire. On the other side of the hall is a study, which could be a fourth bedroom if necessary. There is a downstairs toilet and a cellar, which is fitted out as a games room and utility - and there is still space for a proper wine cellar too! Upstairs are three large bedrooms and a bathroom with original fittings. The master bedroom has a sunroom with beautiful arched doors to the east facing balcony, the perfect spot for breakfast.
To the rear of the house are a large garage and two old cottages for restoration, all with new roofs. A terrace, as yet unfinished, leads to the swimming pool and the barn which has been converted into a fantastic bar and pool house with it’s own shower and WC. There is also a covered barbeque area and a large private garden with fruit trees.
The house is situated behind a high wall at the edge of a small hamlet. Sauze Vaussais, where there are shops, schools and supermarkets is only a ten minute drive away.© |
