I have to admit that there are not many palm trees in this part of the world, nor is it a desert, but this lovely property with its palm tree in the front garden has just about everything you need for a quiet retreat to one on the loveliest parts of France.
The front door opens into an enormous lounge with tiled flooring and a wood-burning stove which is sufficient to heat the whole house. Off to the right are a bedroom, shower room, wc, and a spare room with potential to be a study or extension of the kitchen. To the rear the house been extended to form a conservatory, which currently houses a fitted kitchen and dining room. Upstairs are two large bedrooms and a bathroom with wc.
The house is surrounded by an enclosed garden, with views over open countryside, and in addition has a second building, approximately 32m² at ground level, which could be converted into a small gite. It is situated at the end of a small cul-de-sac on a quiet country lane.
The nearby village of Gournay has no amenities but the lively market towns of Cluis and Argenton sur Creuse are only a short drive, and in addition to most commercial needs the latter has a main line railway station. The airports of Limoges and Poitiers, with daily services between France and the UK, are between 60 and 90 minutes’ drive. © |
