If it is peace and quiet you are looking for there can be few better locations than this riverside house built on the site of an old mill using the stones from this building. Situated deep in the heart of the countryside, it is an idyllic private fishing spot.
A meandering drive descends from the front gate down to the house. You can enter through the French windows to the front or to the side, when you find yourself in a large lounge with tiled floor, exposed stone walls and a magnificent working fireplace. To the side of the lounge is a corridor leading to a bedroom with French windows opening on to the front, a wc, shower room and kitchen. Upstairs are three further good size bedrooms and a second shower room.
The house is in immaculate condition and is set in woodland and meadows of 2½ acres on both banks of the river Benaize. The original mill race still runs close by the house and the remains of the mill still stand.
It is about a 20 minute drive to the nearest towns with commerce, either in St Sulpice les Feuilles or St Benoit du Sault. The city of Limoges, famous for its porcelain, is about an hour’s drive, and its airport has daily services between France and the UK as well as to Lyon and Paris. Poitiers airport also has daily services to the UK and is about 90 minutes away. © |
