This is one of the best examples of a contemporary house I have seen so far, with a delightful combination of modern comforts and traditional styling. Although at first sight it is a chalet/bungalow with all you need on one level, the roof space has been imaginatively designed to provide sizeable additional accommodation for your house guests.
The ground floor consists of a spacious lounge with a wood burning insert fireplace and exposed beams, a kitchen, three bedrooms, bathroom and separate wc, all with tiled floors. The lounge, kitchen and bedrooms all have French windows opening on to the front or rear terraces. Built into the roof space are a large mezzanine area, fourth bedroom, shower room, wc, and a storeroom which could double as an extra bedroom. The house is tastefully decorated, with partial double glazing, and has electric radiators to supplement if necessary the wood heating.
To the front and rear is a lawned garden with mature trees and bushes, overlooking open countryside. There is at present no garage but there is ample place to put one in.
The village has a bar/restaurant which also provides a postal service, and the usual drive-by grocery services, but for regular shopping you need to drive to St Benoit du Sault, 15 minutes away. Limoges and Poitiers airports are within an hour’s drive, with daily services between France and the UK. © |
