I knew this pretty cottage before the present owners bought it. It was a nice little holiday cottage with two small bedrooms and a fairly basic living room and kitchen. It has now been transformed into a comfortable property which you could happily live in all year round.
I started my tour in the newly fitted kitchen which comes complete with fitted oven, hob and extractor fan. Next to this the large lounge boasts a new insert fireplace, and exposed beams. Off the lounge is a sunny dining room with French windows overlooking the garden. Off the kitchen a hallway leads to the master bedroom, a shower room and a separate toilet. The original two small bedrooms have been knocked into one to make the master bedroom, and it too has French doors opening onto the garden. A lovely oak staircase leads from the lounge into the new second bedroom which has been created in the loft space.
The attached garage provides plenty of storage space. The garden is to the rear of the property, and though it’s not large, there is plenty of space for a sunny patio, flower beds and an above ground pool. There are also lovely views across the surrounding countryside.
The property is situated at the edge of a small hamlet close to the Charente and Dordogne border, Angouleme is about 30 minutes away, and the pretty Dordogne town of Nontron is 30 minutes in the other direction. © |
