At fist sight this is just a little house tucked away in the corner of a small hamlet. Inside however, it seems to go on for ever. It is habitable but needs some updating, and with those large airy rooms and high ceilings, you can let your imagination run wild.
Patio doors from a shady terrace lead to a large lounge with cathedral ceiling, fireplace, and exposed stone and beams. Next to this is a lobby with a toilet and bathroom. The bath is one of those funny short ones that were once popular in France, but you could change it for a shower. The lobby opens onto a huge kitchen/dining room with an open staircase. Upstairs are four large bedrooms, and a room under the eaves. The sloping ceiling makes this room quite small, but it could be used as a study or playroom. There is a shower room and a toilet on this floor too. A long meandering corridor eventually leads to a second staircase going back down the lounge where we started.
The garden is private, with a long driveway down to the road, and views across open countryside. The rear of the house opens onto a small courtyard shared with the neighbouring houses.
The hamlet is about 1km from Feuillade where there is a small shop and bar/tabac. The pretty town of Marthon is about 3kms away, and you can be in Angouleme in less than 30 minutes. © |
