There is character in abundance in this lovely old cottage and its converted barn. It would be ideal for two couples or you could do as the present owner does and live in the barn conversion and let out the house as a holiday home.
The barn consists of a dining room which is separated from the huge lounge by the original cattle feeders. On the other side of the lounge is the kitchen which has a lovely old feature fireplace. There is a shower room off the kitchen. Stairs from the lounge lead to a large mezzanine bedroom. Next door, the cottage has a big kitchen, with original cobbled floor and bread oven. There is a shower room off the kitchen. A few steps lead up to the lounge and more stairs to a mezzanine bedroom. The lounge is lovely, with an ancient fireplace and a large window from which one can access a raised deck with fabulous views across the surrounding countryside. Open stairs in the lounge lead to a second enormous bedroom. There is a low beam, but that’s part of the character of the place.
The barn has a small enclosed courtyard garden, and a gap in the hedge leads to the large garden of the cottage.
The property is situated on the edge of a large hamlet, about 10 minutes from the pretty market town of La Rochefoucauld, where you will find all of the usual commerce. © |
