I had trouble finding this little house the first time I visited. I had a picture of a pretty property with a stone façade. This turned out to be the back view, the front as you can see from the picture, is not quite so pretty. That said, it’s a cosy little cottage with space to expand, and you could make the front more attractive.
The new French doors open straight on to the large kitchen, which has the original terracotta tiled floor, and stone fireplace. An open arch leads to a small lounge with a polished wood floor. An old curving staircase leads to a big landing, a double bedroom, with views across open countryside, and a shower room. From the landing it would be possible to knock through into the barn to create more bedrooms. There is also access straight into the barn from the kitchen.
The barn has a floor area of 75m², offering lots of possibilities for expansion. There is a private enclosed courtyard to the rear of the property, perfect for outdoor dining and lounging in the sun. There is also a small garden at the end of the courtyard, where the present owner grows his vegetables.
The property is situated at the side of a quite road on the edge of a small hamlet less than a ten minute drive from the lively market town of La Rochefoucauld. Here there is a choice of bars, restaurants, shops and, supermarkets, as well as schools, doctors and dentists. © |
