This little cottage needs to go up in the world. The layout at present is not ideal, but on the plus side it’s sturdy, has double glazing, gas central heating, and mains drainage. The existing bedroom is on the ground floor but the stairs lead to two attic rooms which could easily be converted into bedrooms.
On one side of the central hall is the bedroom, which could become a comfortable sitting room when the attic is converted. On the other side of the hall is the dining room, again with wood flooring, and a fireplace. There is a good sized kitchen at the rear of the cottage, it’s dated but useable. A small lobby leads to the shower room and toilet; there’s a big cellar too. Even though the loft is not converted, there is a proper staircase leading to two big rooms. One has already been boarded out and just needs a ceiling. The other has a slight drawback, in that you have to duck under a low beam in the doorway, but it would be fine as a guest room. Both rooms have newly fitted windows.
There is a small garden to the front of the property and an attached garage. The back garden is big enough for sunbathing and barbecues, but not too big to be a chore to look after.
The house is situated on what was once a very busy road into town, but since the new bypass was completed all is calm. Chasseneuil is a lively town with all of the necessary amenities within walking distance from the house. © |
