Well maybe this house isn’t that old, but it’s definitely a bit peculiar in layout. It would suit someone who likes something a little different. It is habitable, and offers a lot of space but it needs bringing up to date.
On one side of the central hall is a huge living room. It’s very light and airy and has French windows out to a secluded little garden. There is a marble fireplace in a corner; the French seem to have a thing about not making the fireplace a focal point. On the other side of the hall is a large kitchen with access to the rest of the garden. There is a toilet under the stairs, and on the first floor are three double bedrooms with lovely wood floors. The bathroom can only be accessed from the master bedroom, and it gives onto the balcony you see in the picture. Another of the bedrooms has an old staircase which leads down to what was probably once the laundry room, but now houses the boiler.
There is a large attached garage, and several outbuildings. The garden is surprisingly secluded considering that you are in the middle of town.
The house is situated in a quiet street just off the town centre, where there is a Sunday market, shops and restaurants, and a daily train service to Angouleme and Limoges. The town is surrounded by lovely countryside and there are fishing lakes within walking distance. © |
