The present owner has started to renovate this cottage, and outside it looks very smart. There is still a way to go on the inside however. There are lots of great features like central heating, double glazing, and a new roof, and the materials to finish the work are included in the price. There are as yet no bedrooms or bathroom, though the plumbing for the latter is there. The re-wiring is almost complete, and there are new double glazed windows with electric shutters throughout.
The front door opens onto a large lounge with cement floor ready to be tiled. There is a downstairs bedroom and bathroom to finish, and a large kitchen with a lovely old fireplace. The small original kitchen will become a utility room. Upstairs is a large attic where a second bedroom and possibly another bathroom could be created.
To the front of the house are a small courtyard and the attached garage. The garden to the rear is somewhat overgrown but has possibilities and is not too big to cope with if you are not in permanent residence.
The cottage is in the centre of a small hamlet only about 5 minutes from La Rochefoucauld, where you will find all of the necessary amenities. The new airport at Angouleme is only about 30 minutes away, making this an ideal holiday hideaway. © |
