Though quite smart on the outside, this old farmhouse has not had any work done to it for many years, and, apart from the central heating, everything is to do. There is a lot of potential however, for someone with “bon courage” and some skill to create to create a large attractive house, or even two houses.
The wide hall has a room on either side. The first is the kitchen. There is a tiled floor and a traditional stone fireplace which will be lovely once the brown paint is removed! On the other side of the hall is a large room which has been used as a bedroom, but could be a nice sitting room. The wood floor will polish up well, and there is a fireplace here too. At the end of the hall a door opens on to a small barn built across the back of the house, this could easily be added to the accommodation. It’s pretty grotty at present, but it has a toilet, and space to create a first floor. A rather nice curved staircase leads to three bedrooms, and the bathroom.
At the side of the house are a second barn, stable, and a bread oven. The barn is huge and you could convert it into another house. There are also several other outbuildings. There is a walled garden in front of the house, and more garden to the rear and side of the property.
The hamlet is situated about 6kms from the pretty town of Montbron where there are shops and a supermarket. La Rochefoucauld is about 10kms away, and you can be in Angouleme in about 35 minutes. © |
