I am not normally a fan of houses built in the 1960’s, but this one definitely appeals to me. It’s stylish, has lovely big rooms and is in a pretty setting, with a big garden.
A wide entrance hall leads to the spacious lounge which has an open fireplace, parquet flooring and French doors to the terrace. On the other side of the hall is a kitchen dining room with an interesting central fireplace. There are no units in the kitchen, but next to it is a second kitchen/utility room with a sink unit and cupboards, as well as the central heating boiler. Also on the ground floor are a toilet, and a study with more French doors to the garden. The lovely oak staircase leads to a large landing and the five double bedrooms. The master bedroom has a big balcony, the perfect spot for coffee and croissants in the mornings. There is a small washroom between the master second bedrooms, which could be converted into an en-suite shower. The bathroom has bath and shower and is large, but needs updating. There is a separate toilet.
The garden is mostly lawn with shrubs and mature trees; the large above ground pool is at the rear of the property, as is the separate garage.
The house is situated in pretty countryside only about 6kms from the market town of Montbron where there are shops schools and supermarket etc. Angouleme is a 30 minute drive away. © |
