This lovely old Charentaise style house just oozes charm. It needs a little work, a second bathroom would be good, (more of that later), but it’s a charming home, ready to move into.
The front door opens onto a large living room with a lovely old fireplace and a terracotta tiled floor. Next to this is a small room which is used as a bedroom at present, but could become a study or a snug. The large kitchen has the original cobbled floor and an old bread oven. There is a toilet off the kitchen, with plumbing for the washing machine, (very French). There is also access to a vaulted wine cellar. The open staircase leads to three large bedrooms, one of which has a lovely old fireplace, and a balcony overlooking the garden. There is a shower room too, but it can only be accessed via one of the bedrooms, though there is plenty of space for a second bathroom.
The attached barn could easily be included in the accommodation. There is a small courtyard in front of the house and the main part of the garden, with lawns and mature trees, is at the side.
Agris is a large village, with a post office, a bar and a small shop. The lively market town of La Rochefoucauld is less than 10 minutes away. © |
