This lovely house with gîtes and chambres d’hôte, is actually called La Grenouille, the French word for frog, but it’s most definitely a handsome prince.
The main house has been tastefully renovated, and the large hallway has double glass doors to a lovely lounge/dining room with marble fireplace and marble tiled floors. Also off the hall are a newly fitted kitchen, utility room and toilet. Upstairs the landing doubles as a study, and there are three double bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. Across the lawn are the two gîtes, “Green Frog” and “Little Frog”. Both have spacious living areas with kitchen, two bedrooms, two toilets, and a shower room. They also have their own private patios. Opposite the gîtes are the stables, complete with eight loose boxes. Attached to the stables is the chambre d’hôte, it has its own small dining/kitchen, and two bedrooms both with en-suite showers.
The property is situated in over two acres of wooded countryside, close to a river. The gardens around the houses and pool are landscaped, and there is a table tennis court and an exercise ring for the horses which the present owner breeds.
The property is situated about 2 kms from St Adjutory, where there is a bar restaurant. There is lots to do in the area, with fishing, riding and golfing all within a short drive. The bustling town of La Rochefoucauld is about 15minutes away, and the city of Angouleme about a 30 minute drive.© |
