This
house ticks almost all of the boxes for me, superb location, swimming
pool, lovely garden, a little house to do up as guest accommodation, what
more could one want. Well managing to get up and downstairs without banging
my head would be nice, but I'm sure that can be rectified. As for the
low beam on the landing, it's part of the charm. Oh, and I'd probably
want to re-arrange the kitchen.
The door from the terrace opens onto the kitchen/dining room, there is
an old fireplace and lots of beams, and a back door leading to the pool
area. Next to the kitchen is the living room, with an unusual fireplace,
and a door opening onto a small balcony. An open staircase leads to the
two double bedrooms, and large bathroom. At right angles to the house,
the cottage has a large room downstairs, there are two fireplaces, it
was obviously once two rooms. A small room to one side could probably
become a bathroom, and it would be possible to get two bedrooms in the
loft space.
Outside, a wisteria covered arch leads from the pool to a patio and barbecue
area. The rest of the garden slopes up to woodland at the top. There is
a wine cellar underneath the balcony, which also houses the pump for the
pool.
The property is situated at the edge of a hamlet which lies about 10 minutes
north of La Rochefoucauld, where there are shops and schools, as well
as a railway link to Angouleme and Bordeaux. © |
